Tracking & Monitoring

Asset: The commissioned combination of a TRU or eTRU, telematics device, and truck or trailer.

  • Electric Transport Refrigeration Units (eTRU): Battery-powered units that may have regenerative braking and other power generation capabilities and are available for trucks or trailers

  • Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU): Available for trucks or trailers

Asset Health: Health of the asset based on TRU alarms that can fall in one of four states listed below. This feature is only available for Supra and Vector units.

  • Critical - Unit is shut down. Take action immediately.

  • Urgent - Take action as soon as possible

  • Warning - Address during the next maintenance visit

  • OK - No actionable alarms

More information: Asset Health

Compartments (C1, C2, C3): Names of the compartments within an asset. For example, C1 indicates compartment 1. Temperature setpoint and sensors can be monitored for each compartment.

Custom Field: Up to 3 customer-defined columns and field values

Event: Any detected occurrence based on various criteria or business rules that may include alarms and alert conditions

Geofence: A virtual perimeter around a physical location that allows the ability to set notifications, or lack of notifications, within the designated perimeters. Notifications can also include when assets leave or enter the virtual perimeter.

Power Mode: Power source for the TRU

  • Standby: Uses battery/grid to power the asset.

  • Engine: Uses the engine to power the asset. For example, running on diesel.

Run Mode (also Control Mode): Changes the operating mode of the unit between two states:

  • Continuous (also Continuous Run): The system runs continuously to maintain precise temperature control, regardless of whether the setpoint is reached

  • Start/Stop: The system shuts off when the setpoint is reached and restarts only when the temperature drifts outside the target range

Alerts & Messages

Alarms: When a TRU encounters an issue, it will trigger an alarm. They are visible as a red LED on the TRU display panel. These can be categorized as Shutdown or Warning alarms. The alarm info is also sent to Lynx Fleet as they occur.

  • Active alarms: Alarms that are still actively reporting in from the edge/telematics device from the TRU.

  • Inactive alarms: For Advanced and APX controllers only. Alarms will move to an Inactive status when the issue being alerted about is no longer occurring. These aren't indicative of the alarm being cleared. It is more that the alarm-state stopped occurring.

More information: TRU Alarms

Notifications: Messages that inform you about asset statuses based on custom rules that you set up. These notifications may be received via email or text messages and viewed on Lynx Fleet.

More information: Notification Rules

Service & Maintenance

Battery Types: There are several types of batteries that can be used to power your asset. Lynx Fleet has data for the following:

  • Device (FMC) Battery - Powers the telematics device

  • TRU 12 V Battery - Used to start the TRU engine

  • eTRU Battery - Used as the power source for electric or hybrid refrigeration units

Battery Rebalancing: Only for eTRU batteries. The process of distributing capacity equally to the cells in the battery power pack. This ensures efficiency and helps prevent damage to the battery.

Battery State of Charge (SoC): Only for eTRU batteries. Current state of charge of the battery pack; this will be the remaining amount of capacity in a battery at given time. 100% is full and 0% is empty. It is the equivalent of fuel gage in a diesel truck.

BluEdge (also Service Contract): Carrier’s Service and aftermarket warranty offering. A BluEdge service contract will provide support throughout the entire lifecycle of your refrigeration units. Examples include unscheduled repairs, expert diagnostics and repairs by the Carrier Dealer Network and Parts Pricing Program.

  • Core: For customers who handle their own maintenance but occasionally require Carrier service

  • Elite: Ideal for multi-year contracts, preventive maintenance, and remote monitoring

  • Enhance: Unmatched customer service meets cutting-edge technology to optimize performance, maximize uptime, and minimize cost

More information: BluEdge | Carrier Corporate

Commissioning: Ensuring correct initial set up of assets that ensure optimum performance, safety, and reliability for the assets lifetime.

Configuration File: Configuring the initial settings and parameters of the asset

Remote Download (also Diagnostic Download): A download of TRU alarms and historical information

Technology & Integrations

Application Programming Interface (API): Lynx APIs enable custom integration of telematics data into your supply chain systems

More information: Lynx API | Carrier

Controller (also Control System): Manages trailer temperature and operations through distributed hardware and integrated software

Electronic Braking System (EBS): The Electronic Braking System provides data regarding the status of your trailer's brakes. Electric brakes are the most prevalent type used for trailers.

More information: Electronic Braking System

Gear Box Generator: A gear system that connects to control the input/output ratio and rotational speed

IntelliSet: Lets you predefine and name up to 40 product-specific refrigeration settings that drivers can easily select, while enabling remote monitoring and switching of active profiles via the Lynx platform

More information: Remote Intelliset

Telematics: Technology systems that integrate telecommunications, informatics, and data analytics to enhance fleet management, operational efficiency, and safety. These systems rely on GPS technology, onboard diagnostics, and wireless communications to transmit real-time information about a vehicle’s location, performance, and environment.

Telematics Device: Enables real-time temperature monitoring that includes GPS trackers and other data logging devices that connect to sensors. For example, Teltonika is the preferred Lynx Fleet device manufacturer.

Telematics Firmware (also Device Firmware): Software on the telematics device that can read different protocols. For example, data coming from the TRU and connected sensors.

Sensors: A device that detects when an event happens

  • Data Cold & One Wire Sensors: Up to six sensors will connect to an overarching temperature probe that conducts telematics to show temperature readings in Lynx Fleet. Data Cold and One Wire are sensor brands. Example labels in Lynx Fleet include “data cold box 1,” “data cold RAS 1,” and “data cold SAS 1.”

  • Return Air Sensor (RAS): Return air is the air leaving the unit, and the sensor will monitor the return air for values such as temperature.

  • Supply Air Sensor (SAS): Supply air is the incoming air into the unit, and the sensor will monitor the supply air for values such as temperature.

  • Wireless Sensors: Low-power devices that use solar power and send communications between sensors wirelessly.

Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS): Sensors that track the tire pressure on your assets, Lynx Fleet can track values such as tire position, tire pressure, and tire temperature

Industry & Product Info

Cold Chain: A supply chain method that includes the need for refrigeration from the time the product is harvested or made to the time it is used.

Product Family: Examples include Vector, Supra, or eCool
