View tire pressure details for your trailer

Updated over a week ago

Starting 6 July 2024, all new trailers in the European Union must be equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) or a tire pressure system with automatic refilling (TPRS). Additionally, they must have an in-cab warning. This legislation, known as UN ECE141, aims to enhance road safety for all road users and reduce fuel costs for the owners. If you integrate TPMS, Lynx Fleet can display your tire pressure information, including warnings, for your assets.

In this article:

Enabling TPMS Integration

Lynx Fleet integrates with a partner to bring TPMS data into the application. To enable TPMS for your assets, please contact Lynx Fleet support at lynx-support@carrier.com.

TPMS Info in Asset Tracking

The Asset Tracking list has a TPMS column in the Details column group. This column will show:

  • A count if the asset has TPMS issues

  • No count if there are no issues or if there is no TPMS data for the asset.

Click on the count in the TPMS column to view the TPMS Summary pop-up. This pop-up contains information about each tire on your asset's trailer.

The left portion of the pop-up displays the date and time when the TPMS data was last updated. Below this is a diagram illustrating the layout of the trailer's tires. The front of the trailer is located on the left side of the diagram.

Each axle, from front to back, is indicated numerically. If an axle has inner and outer tires, these are labeled with an "O" for the outer tire and an "I" for the inner tire. If a tire has an associated alert, that tire is shown in red. The total number of TPMS alerts for the trailer is shown in the diagram below.

The right portion of this display includes one column for each axle. Each column contains one cell for each tire. Each cell contains:

  • Tire position

  • Tire pressure

  • Tire temperature

The cell's background color will be red if the tire has an alert. The text of the temperature or pressure will be red if that measurement has an associated alert.

Asset Details: TPMS Summary

The Trailer tab on Asset Details contains a TPMS Summary section for users with access. The diagram shown here is similar to the one shown in the TPMS pop-up from Asset Tracking. Please take a look above for details.

TPMS Notifications

You can set up notification rules for your assets in Lynx Fleet. These rules include notifications when tire pressure or temperature goes outside the allowed range. Lynx Fleet will send an email or SMS whenever these values go out of range for the specified assets defined in your notification rule.

To receive TPMS notifications, define a new Notification Rule for your selected assets.

  1. Select an Event Type of TPMS Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

  2. You can select one or both options that you would like to be alerted on.

You can see Adding Notification Rules if you want to learn more about creating notification rules.

The Allowed Ranges for tire pressure and temperature are not defined within Lynx Fleet; these are defined by our TPMS partner.
