Asset Tracking

Upon logging into Lynx Fleet, you'll see the Asset Tracking screen. It lets you monitor your fleet's location, status, and condition anytime, anywhere for total operational oversight. This helps you gain visibility of your assets from a macro level. You can also select a specific asset to understand the it at a micro level.

In the header, to the left of the search box, you will see the company/fleet that you are currently viewing. If you want to change which fleet or company you are viewing, click on this to select a different option. This will refresh the screen to show assets for that selected fleet or company.

If you want to organize your assets into fleets, read Adding/Removing Assets from Fleets.

Setting Up Geofences

A geofence is a virtual boundary around a location. Geofencing targets broad regions or precise spots. In Lynx Fleet, you can define areas like distribution centers or delivery zones with geofences. These can then be referenced to trigger notifications when assets enter or leave, or when events occur inside or outside the geofence (e.g., Door Open events).

We recommend you set up the following as geofences in Lynx Fleet:

  • Your distribution centers

  • Locations you deliver to frequently

To learn more about geofences, see:

Generating Temperature Reports

Lynx Fleet lets you create and schedule temperature reports for assets. These reports show temperature fluctuations over a selected period and can include events like refrigeration unit activity, door openings, and vehicle movements.

You can create temperature reports for each asset, as needed by going to the Temperature tab on the Asset Details page. To learn more about how to do this read Creating Temperature Reports.

You can also schedule these reports to receive them via email as you need them.

Creating Notification Rules

Lynx Fleet notifications lets you set alerts for temperature, location, and more to reduce reaction time for critical issues for improved speed to review and resolve.

The Notification Center helps you create rules for asset alerts. Notifications are sent through the Lynx Fleet Notification Center, email, and SMS, based on your company's and users' preferences.

Notifications are essential for addressing potential issues before they escalate into significant problems, thereby ensuring that your fleet remains in optimal condition. We advise setting up a TRU alarms notification for your assets to alert you when a Shutdown alarm occurs. When defining the notification rule, it is possible to select specific alarms of interest. The notification will be delivered according to your preferences whenever the selected alarms are triggered. This enables prompt action, such as sending the asset for service or selecting an alternative asset for delivery. By identifying issues early, costly repairs and downtime can be avoided, resulting in long-term savings.

Scheduling Customized Reports

Lynx Fleet provides report templates to help create customized reports tailored to your organization's needs. These reports can be scheduled to be sent by email at a time and recurrence of your choosing.

The following reports are recommended for regular review and can be helpful in understanding the utilization of your fleet:

  • Geofence Dwell Time Report: Gain an understanding of the average time spent inside each geofence as well as a detailed view of each time an asset enters a geofence including the enter time, exit time and total duration per event.

  • Setpoint Changes Report: Monitor the setpoints used during a selected timeframe to ensure that the TRU set points are being properly set.

  • Sustainable Practices Report: Providing a comprehensive view of usage of your TRUs, the Sustainable Practices provides details on options to save fuel consumption and cost by adjusting operational settings and behaviors.

  • Electric Assets Report: Provides a comprehensive view of your electric TRU fleet including Fuel usage, cost and CO2 emissions savings as well as battery operational details to help drive proper maintenance of the battery to reduce unplanned downtime and total cost of ownership.

Setting Up Two-Way Commands

The Lynx Fleet two-way command feature lets you remotely control assets. Carrier's internal study found that using commands like compartment on/off, defrost, and running mode can cut down on running hours by up to 15%, reducing fuel use. (Source: Carrier Press Release)

You can use two-way commands in Lynx Fleet to make adjustments to your TRU settings without involving the driver.

We recommend that you review the available 2-Way commands and determine how they can be used in your fleet operations.
