Initiate and access a diagnostic download for your asset

Updated over a week ago

It's essential to prioritize the health of fleet assets. A crucial part of this is staying informed about any ongoing issues. Some Carrier Service Centers and customer workshops need to be able to remotely download TRU asset history and diagnostic information to help identify potential problems. This can be done directly from within Lynx Fleet.

The diagnostic download will contain asset history and alarms for your asset for a specified time frame. This information is helpful for technicians who are diagnosing the health of your refrigeration unit.

This guide walks you through using remote diagnostics in Lynx Fleet to help you maintain your fleet.

In this article:

Technical Requirements for Remote Diagnostics

To use the remote diagnostics feature within Lynx Fleet, your TRU must meet specific criteria:

  • APX or Advanced Controller

  • The firmware version must be FWT264

  • An SD Card must be installed on the device

If your device doesn't have the latest firmware version, please contact Carrier Support at lynx-support@carrier.com to discuss upgrading.

Accessing Remote Diagnostics Command

The Remote Diagnostic button is in the header of the Asset Detail screen. Clicking on it will open the Remote Download Diagnostics pop-up.

This functionality is only available for assets that use APX or Advanced controllers.

Initiating Remote Diagnostics Download

When you click the Remote Diagnostics button, the Remote Download Diagnostics pop-up will open. The header of this pop-up will show the asset name, TRU Serial Number, current location, last time data was received from its telematics device, and whether the refrigeration unit is on or off. There will also be an indicator if there are any active alarms.

You cannot initiate a remote diagnostic download if the TRU is off.

Note: The TRU should remain ON the entire time the diagnostic download is in progress. This download process can take up to an hour. The download will be interrupted and canceled if the unit is shut off. Before starting a diagnostic download, you should verify that no one is working on or operating the TRU.

If an SD card is not detected for the asset, an error message will be displayed, and you cannot continue with the remote download.

In the Remote Diagnostics section, you can initiate a remote diagnostics download.

  1. Check the Diagnostic Download checkbox.

  2. Select a download type.

    1. All History and Alarms - download the full history and alarms for the asset.

    2. Quick (1 week)- downloads the past week of history and alarms for the asset.

Click the Download button to start the download.

Depending on the volume of data, the download can take up to an hour or more. The refrigeration mode will be maintained while the download is in process (i.e., temperature and other settings will be kept). However, two-way commands cannot be sent while the download is processed.

Once a download is complete, the file will be available on the Diagnostic Download tab in the Service & Maintenance section.

Diagnostic Downloads List

The Service & Maintenance section can be accessed by clicking on the wrench icon on the left side of the Lynx Portal. The Diagnostic Downloads tab is the third tab in the Service and Maintenance section.

This list includes all the pending and completed diagnostic downloads for your fleet. Once a download is complete, the Status column will show Success.

The list includes:

  • Asset Name- Click on the asset name to navigate to the specific asset

  • Device Name- Identifier for the device

  • Download Type- The type of download selected by the user

  • Status- Status of the download (Pending, Error, or Success)

  • File Link - Click to download the diagnostic file.

  • Downloaded On- The date and time the download was initiated on

  • Downloaded By- The user who initiated the download

The downloaded file can be opened using the Carrier TRU-Tech software.
