Monitor alarms and health for your assets

Updated over a week ago

Maximizing operational efficiency and reducing the total cost of ownership requires maintaining the overall health of your fleet's refrigeration units. Responding correctly to alarms is critical to achieving this goal.

In this article:

TRU Alarms

Your device reports alarms to Lynx Fleet as they occur on your asset. If the device has not reported an alarm for over 35 minutes, it is no longer considered active in Lynx Fleet. Active alarms are displayed in several places within Lynx Fleet and can be viewed via API.

The criticality of alarms an asset has will determine its asset health.

Asset Health Widget

In the Asset Tracking view, you will find a set of widgets on the left panel. These widgets provide a summary of your assets. You will see an Asset Health widget above the Live Status widget if you have the appropriate access. This widget displays the health of your assets based on the highest level of criticality of any active alarms. The tiles in the Asset Health widget show the number of assets with critical, urgent, and warning alarms and the number of assets with no active alarms.

There are four categories of asset health:

  • Critical- Unit is shut down; take action immediately

  • Urgent- Take action as soon as possible

  • Warning- Address during the next maintenance visit

  • OK - No actionable alarms

Click on one of these tiles to filter the Asset Tracking list to show assets with this asset health. Click the tile again to clear the filter.

Currently, the asset health feature is in Beta and only pertains to Vector and Supra Units.

If you do not have access to this feature and would like access, please speak to your account manager.

Alarm Information in Asset Tracking

The Details column group in the Asset Tracking table contains the Asset Health and Alarms columns. The Asset Health column shows an icon to indicate the Asset's Health. If the TRU has critical, urgent, or warning asset health, a colored bar will be displayed at the left end of the row to indicate the same. The bar color and icon in the asset list are based on the asset's highest level of alarm criticality. The Alarms column displays a count of the asset's active alarms. You can click on this count to view the Alarm Details pop-up.

Click on a row in the Asset Tracking table to pan and zoom to that asset on the map and view the info panel for that asset. This panel will show an active alarm chip if the asset has an active alarm. You can click on the arrow icon in the top corner of this panel to open an expanded details pop-up for the asset.

This details pop-up will contain an Active Alarms chip if there are active alarms. You can click on this chip to open the Alarm Details.

Alarm Details

The Alarm Details pop-up will display when clicking on the alarm count from various locations within Lynx Fleet. This pop-up shows both active and inactive alarms for an asset. The header shows identifying information about the asset, such as its serial number and model type.

The alarm list includes:

  • Criticality- Indicates impact of alarm on asset health

  • Response- either Alarm Only or Shut Down

  • Code- alarm code

  • Description- alarm description

  • Recommendation- recommended action you should take to address the alarm

Route Replay: Alarm Events

The Events Table in the Asset Details Route Replay tab shows an event for shutdown alarms during a route. Clicking on an event sets the map focus for that point in time and opens a details tooltip on the map about the event.

The tooltip displays the alarm code, alarm description, and the time and location of the alarm. Double-clicking on the tooltip opens a pop-up with more details about the asset at that point in time.

Notifications for Alarms

You can set up notification rules for your assets in Lynx Fleet. This includes notifications when there is an active Shutdown alarm. These will send an email or SMS whenever there is an active shutdown alarm for the specified assets defined in your notification rule.

You can see Adding Notification Rules if you want to learn more about creating notification rules.

Fleet Alarms Report

Click the Reports icon in the left navigation menu to access the list of Lynx Fleet reports. Then select the Fleet TRU Alarms option in Report Templates. This report can be downloaded in PDF or CSV format and scheduled to be delivered via email.

The Fleet TRU Alarms report will provide historical details about active alarms for selected assets within a timeframe.

The report summarizes:

  • Total asset count - assets that had active alarms during the selected period

  • Unique alarms count

  • Total alarms

The report has lists for:

  • Assets with the most alarms

  • Top alarms

  • All alarms by asset

The individual lists in the report can also be downloaded to Excel, CSV, or other formats by clicking on the triple dot icon in the upper right corner of the specific list you want to export.

  • asset-snapshots

  • asset-history-items

  • multi-asset-history

The Alarm array contains the following information about any active alarms about the asset at the time of the message:

  • Response (Alarm only or Shut down)

  • Code

  • Description
