SCB Integration

Lynx Fleet can receive data from Schmitz Cargobull's Telematics Portal

Updated over 2 months ago

Lynx Fleet has integrated with Schmitz Cargobull's (SCB) telematics portal, TrailerConnect, allowing you to view your SCB telematics data in Lynx Fleet to get a more comprehensive picture of your assets.

In this article:

Overview

The SCB/Lynx Fleet integration can be configured to pull trailer data for your assets into Lynx Fleet.

This data can include:

  • TRU Status (on/off)

  • Telematics Device Timestamp (when message was created)

  • Setpoints and TRU temperature readings

See the Fields Included in Integration section below for a more complete list.

The Asset History of these assets in Lynx Fleet will start being written as of the time the integration and mapping is established.

The matching between the two systems is done based on TRU serial number, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or License Plate Number.

Note: The assets must exist in Lynx Fleet in order for data from SCB Trailer Connect to be pushed to them, so if you add new assets to SCB Trailer Connect, you will need to work with Carrier to set them up in Lynx Fleet.

Fields Included in Integration

The following fields are included in the integration. If they are populated for your assets in SCB TrailerConnect and you opt to send those fields to Lynx Fleet, they should be shown on the asset in Lynx Fleet.

  • TRU Status (on/off)

  • Location (Latitude & Longitude)

  • Compartment Setpoints

  • Compartment Operating Modes

  • Compartment Return Air Temperature

  • Compartment Supply Air Temperature

  • Sensor temperatures (1-6)

  • Engine Control Mode

  • Lifetime Engine Hours

  • Lifetime Switch On Hours

  • Telematics Device Timestamp (when message was created)

  • Device Battery Voltage

  • Device External Power Voltage

  • Fuel Level

  • Door Status

  • Tire Pressure (TPMS) data

    • Tire Temperature

    • Tire Pressure

Configuring Integration Between SCB & Lynx Fleet

The SCB/Lynx Fleet Integration is configured within the SCB TrailerConnect Telematics Portal. You must grant permission to push your data from the SCB application to Lynx Fleet.

To share your SCB telematics data, navigate to the DMC tab in the TrailerConnect portal. Within the DMC display, click on the Export Endpoint tab. Choose Carrier Lynx Fleet as the target system from the DMC partner list.

To establish the integration, you must know your Lynx Fleet API Key. You can generate your API Key from the Lynx Fleet portal. You can learn more about that here.

While configuring your Lynx Fleet connection within the SCB Telematics Portal, you will be prompted to enter your x-lynx-api-key. You will put your Lynx Fleet API Key in this field.

You will be prompted to select which data sets you would like to send to Lynx Fleet. Select those that you want to send to Lynx Fleet.

Matching Assets Between SCB & Lynx Fleet

When the data comes into Lynx Fleet from SCB, Lynx Fleet goes through a series of steps to match up your asset from the SCB system to the correct asset in Lynx Fleet. We look at data for each asset in the following order.

  1. TRU Serial Number

  2. Vehicle Identification Number

  3. License Plate Number

TRU Serial Number

Lynx Fleet will first try to use the TRU (Reefer Unit) Serial Number to map data from the SCB Telematics Portal. Your TRU must be connected to the SCB telematics device for the SCB Telematics Portal to have the TRU Serial Number for your asset. This will work for all Schmitz + Carrier vehicles assembled in a SCB or Carrier factory. Retrofit units would depend upon the service partner and the process they follow to determine whether they connected the Carrier TRU system to the SCB telematics system. CTU2 units (units older than 2017) may not have a connection between the reefer and the SCB telematics unit.

This field is not editable in Lynx Fleet. You can view your asset's TRU Serial Number in several places, including the header of the Asset Details screen.

This field is not editable by users in the SCB Telematics Portal.

Vehicle Identification Number

If an asset doesn’t find a match on the TRU Serial Number, Lynx Fleet will next try to use the trailer Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), also known as the trailer chassis ID. This field is required and non-editable in SCB’s Telematics Portal.

The VIN is currently not shown in Lynx Fleet but can be populated in the back end. Speak to Lynx Fleet Support to verify if your trailers' VIN is correctly populated in Lynx Fleet.

License Plate Number

If no match is found using the VIN, Lynx Fleet will try to find a match using the License Plate Number next. This field is editable in the SCB Telematics portal. You can also edit this field in Lynx Fleet from the Assets tab in Company Management.

The asset's license plate field can be found throughout Lynx Fleet, including the Asset Tracking list and the Asset Details header.
