Delivery Zones: Automated Sleep Mode

Automatically put your assets into sleep mode when they enter specified zones

Updated over a month ago

Lynx Fleet enables automatic sleep mode for assets entering delivery zones to reduce noise, save fuel, and comply with regulations—eliminating the need for driver action. When an asset enters a designated delivery area:

  • The TRU operates more quietly

  • Fuel and energy consumption decrease

  • Refrigeration temperature control is disabled during unloading, preventing inefficiencies caused by open doors

You can create and manage the delivery zones for your organization directly in Lynx Fleet.

In the article:

Creating a Delivery Zone

To create a new delivery zone or view the zones already defined by your organization, click ON the Zones toggle at the top of the Asset Tracking map.

When the Geofences toggle is on, any Delivery Zones defined for your organization will show in orange on the map.

Clicking on the "Zones" in the toggle control will display a menu with options for:

  • Hide show zones (by type) - Check the box next to each zone type to show it in the map

  • Add a zone - Create a new zone

  • Manage zones - View list of zones and edit or delete them

Add a Zone

After selecting "Add a zone" from the Zones menu, you can add a polygon on the map that shows the border of your delivery zone.

Note: When sleep mode automation is on, the TRU will enter sleep mode upon entering the delivery zone, during which time cooling and temperature controls are off. To prevent risk of spoilage of perishable goods, avoid creating large zones that would result in the TRU being in sleep mode for long periods of time.

  1. The mouse cursor will turn into crosshairs (+) when hovering on the map.

  2. Click points on the map that will serve as the corners of the geofence. Move your cursor to the location of the second corner and click. Continue doing this to draw all of the edges of your polygon.

  3. Once you have completed the polygon, double-click.

  4. Enter details into the popup.

In the Add a Zone pop-up, enter:

  • Zone Name (required) - Provide a name for your delivery zone.

  • Zone Type - Currently only option is Active Delivery Zone - Set to Sleep Mode

  • Active Hours - Enter start time and end time for when the sleep mode on/off commands should be sent on entry or exit of this zone. (if you want it to be active 24 hours a day, leave the times at the default).

  • Specify Days - Select the days of the week when the automation should be active (for selected hours)

On the 2nd screen of the pop-up, select:

  • Company - Select company the assets should be associated with

  • Method of sending command

    • Automatically send command to any applicable assets (APX units from selected company)

    • Manually select which assets will receive command (select assets from list)

Click Save to finish creating your new delivery zone.

Manage Zones

To view a list of zones, select the Zones menu on the Asset Tracking map and pick the Manage Zones option. A Manage Zones pop-up will display.

Click on the triple dot icon on a row in the list to select one of the two actions: Edit or Delete.

Assets Entering & Leaving Delivery Zones

When an asset enters a delivery zone, Lynx Fleet will determine if that asset meets the criteria for that zone's automations and if it is within the active hours for the zone. If all criteria are met, a command will be sent to put the TRU into Sleep Mode.

When an asset exits a delivery zone, if that asset meets the criteria for the zone, the asset will be sent a command to end Sleep mode.

An event will show in Route Replay when an asset enters or leaves an Active Delivery Zone during the specified hours
